Correction or Misunderstanding?
Dr. Mark Humphrys,
I am a 17 year old senior attending a high school in the United States. I consider your writings to be fresh perspectives and a break from the major liberal-Left atmosphere I am immersed in at my school. I also plan to serve in the military during and after my undergraduate years of college.
In spite of the intellectually honest and rigorous light I perceive you in, I have recently stumbled across some statements / writings that I would like you to address.
Here, under the “9/11 Conspiracy Theories” section, you quote the purported al-Qaeda leader who is on The Onion as a “spokesman” for the terrorist organization. The Onion is an “American news satire organization” which is infamous for these types of caricatures; is this a misconstruction of your statements on my end or is this an error you have made?
Secondly, here you imply that the torture of the prisoners at Abu Ghraib was an aberration, an anomaly. However, Amnesty International claims that “up to 30,000 prisoners, including many veterans of the US detention system, remain detained without rights in Iraq and are frequently tortured or abused.” Your thoughts on this?
Again, I thoroughly enjoy your writing and I have recommended (and will recommend) to students and teachers.
